Installation Instructions (Tradier)

NOTES:

  • We strongly recommend you start with a paper money account at Tradier for your first few days.

  • SPY and QQQ are supported for paper trading. SPX is not supported for paper trading.

  • Paper trading is great to get familiar with the application and how it works with Tradier, but your results many days may not be an accurate representation of live trading with Tradier.

  • Use of the application is subject to our terms of use, risk disclosure, and privacy policy.

  • Do not share access to the application.

 

Part 1: Install the TradeAutomation .msix installer

 

Installation on a Windows 10/11 PC:

  1. Download the TAT PC Installer .msix file from the TradeAutomationToolbox.com website.
  2. Double click on the PCInstaller_x-x-x.msix installer file and select Install.

 

Installation on a Windows 2022/2025 Server:

  1. Download the TAT Server Installer .zip file from the TradeAutomationToolbox.com website.
  2. Extract the Server_x.x.x.zip file into a folder.

  3. Right click on the Install.ps1 file located in the extracted folder and click “Run with PowerShell”

 

TAT is not compatible with Windows Server 2019

 

Notes:

  • To perform an in-place upgrade installation, run the current installer. This will retain your current data.
  • It is possible to have multiple instances of TAT running on the same computer and user account signed into different brokers (i.e. one signed into IB, one signed into TradeStation, one signed in to Tradier, and one signed in to Schwab). The database files (templates, etc.) for each broker are stored separately.

 

Part 2: Link your Tradier API key.

 

  1. Generate an API Access token on the Tradier website: https://dash.tradier.com/settings/api
    (There are different tokens for paper trading and live trading.)

  2. Enter the API key on the TAT Settings page. 

 

Open Trade Automation Toolkit and connect to Tradier.

  1. Click the Connect to Tradier button. 

  2. Once connected, the status should show “Connected” and you should see the SPX price estimate display on the top of the application. This will update in real time during market hours. If you connect prior to market hours, instead of seeing the SPX price, you may see the message "Connected..Waiting for data". This indicates a successfully connection and SPX data will start updating as soon as the market opens.

 

 


Things that are supported at Tradier

  • Paper trading SPY, QQQ, or SPX

  • Live trading SPY, QQQ, or SPX

  • Market Stops on a single short leg only.

  • PT on any type of trade.

 

Things not supported 

  • Any stops other than short.

  • Stops on trade types that would need to include two legs (Iron condor full, iron fly, etc.)

  • StopLimitOCO stop type

 

Known Issues

  • OCO PT/Stop order will not work if placed within .10 of eachother. I.e. if you have a PT for .01 your stop must be at least .11.
